Comelco Electric, Inc. has been
serving Colorado since 1946. Primarily focusing on the front range area,
Comelco has also had branches in Steamboat Springs, and the Copper Mountain
area.
Comelco's philosophy of being a full service electrical contractor has required that services such as tele/data, fire alarm, high voltage, building automation, design/build, and design/assist, and most recently, Photovoltiacs be offered. Many of these items have been offered ahead of the competition and the experience gained has also benefited the customer. The electrical industry is a constantly evolving business, new technologies and processes are appearing daily and all require continual training and upgrading of skills and procedures. Comelco has strived to not only keep up with but be a leader in these new technologies. Health care has been a specialty of Comelco for many years, the new demands of medical advances and the equipment needed to serve these demands have kept the craftsman at Comelco busy installing the latest medical equipment. Whether a new MRI, CT Scan, PET Scan or a modern Operating Room, Comelco has been involved with the planning and installation of the electrical and other support systems in nearly every Denver area hospital. Mountain Resorts have been another area that has kept Comelco busy over the years. The upgrade of the Copper Mountain Resort for Intrawest Properties which included new residential, commercial, and support facility projects. The new Steamboat Grand Resort, for the American Skiing Corp. and the new city hall in Steamboat Springs. The upgrading of communications facilities through out the Colorado Mountains for US West, now Qwest Communications. Industrial Facilities such as Gravel plants, Milk Processing Plants for Meadow Gold and Sealtest dairies, Metal plating and treating facilities, manufacturing facilities for Eagle Claw fishing tackle, Band-it products, fuel pumping facilities for Sinclair Oil, pipe manufacturing facilities, and printing plants. Warehousing facilities for Safeway Groceries and Warehauser wood products. Communications Facilities: the local phone company has been a long term customer. Comelco has built office buildings, central office facilities, microwave stations, and service faculties. Computer Facilities for US West/Qwest, First Data, Major Banks, Hospitals, and other business including UPS Systems, Backup Generators, Power Quality Equipment, Fire Suppression, Data Transmission, and Security Systems. Education including elementary, secondary, and university facilities have been included in the customer list. Many projects for Colorado State University including classroom buildings, dorms, research facilities and support buildings. The National Center for Atmospheric Research has also been a customer, including the Table Mesa facility and the complex in Boulder. Government Facilities including buildings at the Denver Federal Center, Air Force Academy, Colorado Dept of Revenue, State Capitol Complex, and the State Capitol.. Transportation including air craft hangers for United Airlines, upgrades to Stapleton Airport, and other transportation related projects. Alternate Forms of Energy including Wind Turbines and Photovoltaics. In the early 80's Comelco installed one of the first wind turbines in the state and has been involved with solar heating systems and has recently become an authorized installer/dealer for Sharp Photovoltaic System. Comelco has also installed other brands of PV equipment and has gone through extensive training in all areas of Photovoltaic design, installation, and maintenance.
